Jill McCarthy is the Senior Executive for Corporate Attraction for the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC), a role she was just promoted to. Jill has 24 years of experience in economic development – specializing in regional business recruitment efforts for KCADC across multiple disciplines. Jill has worked comprehensively in assisting customer/shared service centers, advanced manufacturing, distribution/ecommerce, data centers and other operational projects. Jill specializes in assisting companies and consultants considering a KC metro location (urban, suburban or rural) through extensive briefings, demographics, site visits and facilitation of incentives. A few of Jill’s successes include: Dex Media, OptumRx, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, Magna, Martinrea Intl, Littler, 1&1 Internet and U.S. Bank.

Prior to assuming this new role, Jill was the Vice President for Business Development for the Kansas City Area Development Council, a job she held for almost 18 years. Jill was also the Director of Economic Development at Shawnee Economic Development Council.

Jill is the commissioner of the Johnson County Airport Commission, a member of the ULI Kansas City Advisory Board, a member of U.S. Senator Moran’s Kansas Service Academy Selection Board and Co-Chair of the communications committee for Crew KC.

Jill received a Bachelor of Science degree in management and human resources from MidAmerica Nazarene University and a Business Management degree from Indiana State University.

Tim CowdenTim Cowden is senior vice president of Business Development (Corporate Relocation) for the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC). Tim leads KCADC’s prospect attraction efforts for the KC area, which is one of the country’s largest metro footprints for development. Tim has held this position for the past 16 years. Tim’s focus includes advanced manufacturing, headquarters, bioscience/animal health, logistics/transportation, energy and information technology projects. Some of the corporate recruitment successes that Tim has been involved with include projects related to Aviation Technical Services, MindMixer, Sedgwick LLP, Targeted Metrics, Netsmart Technologies, U.S. Bank, Sara Lee Corporation, Wal-Mart, Coleman, Kimberly Clark and Farmer’s Insurance, to name but a few.

With over 25 years in economic development, Tim brings solid skills to the development process from his private sector experience in real estate and business management. He also has a strong understanding of manufacturing, distribution operations and headquarters attraction. Tim has provided location consulting assistance and leadership to companies such as FedEx Ground, Wal-Mart, Farmer’s Insurance, US Bank, Intel and Mars Chocolate North America.

Tim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma. He is involved in many local volunteer organizations and is a big supporter of University of Oklahoma football.

Bob MarcusseBob Marcusse joined the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) in 1991 as president and chief executive officer. During his tenure, KCADC along with its state and local partners, have attracted companies and helped expand and create companies that have created more than 40,000 direct new jobs and added more than $8.0 billion in capital investment to the 18-county, bi-state Kansas City region.

Bob has an extensive background in domestic and international corporate attraction, business growth and retention, and regional marketing. He has spear­headed major growth initiatives in the region such as the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute, KC Animal Health Corridor, KC SmartPort, and KCnext–The Technology Council of Greater Kansas City.

Bob’s community involvement extends well beyond his role at KCADC. Bob serves on the executive committees of KC SmartPort, KCnext, KC Animal Health Corridor and Central Exchange.  He is a member of the University of Kansas Edwards Campus Advisory Board, and University of Missouri Economic Development Cabinet and the board of the KU Endowment.  He is a past chair­man of the University of Kansas Medical Center Research Institute and is a member of the listing review committee for BATS, the country’s third largest stock exchange.  Bob is also a member of the national Alumni Board of Calvin College.

Bob has also held leadership positions with the Columbus (OH) Area Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Council for the Peoria area, Battle Creek (MI) Unlimited and the Inland Port Authority of South Central Michigan and Foreign Trade Zone #43.

Bob graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree.  He received his Master of Science from Purdue University.
