Throughout the world, a new generation of leaders is emerging. But what skills will these up-and-coming managers need to lead most effectively in this new era? NEXT is designed to develop and expand the capacity of tomorrow’s leaders in economic development. NEXT is a gathering of 20-25 pioneers in economic development who are interested in sharing best practices, discussing strategies for innovating the industry and growing their economic development skills alongside a cohort of peers.
Case studies, group discussions, as well as experiential exercises and selected guest lecturers will contribute to a unique and collaborative learning environment during the 2-day training. The topics of focus include innovation in the economic development industry, building a strong rapport with stakeholders and site selectors, skill building that supports community mobilization and consensus building, leadership coaching and more.
Established and emerging leaders who have a strong desire to accelerate their capacity as leaders in economic development are strongly encouraged to apply. You might consider applying if the following qualities describe you:
• Personal commitment to ongoing self-discovery and professional development
• Demonstrated active engagement in your organization and/or community
• Desire to engage and learn alongside industry leaders with different perspectives
• Motivated to meet new people, build your network, and make new connections
